Treegens

Plant mangroves, film them, get rewarded

Treegens is the app for filming mangrove plantings and getting each one checked by independent verifiers. An approved planting can earn $TGN rewards. The app is free to use. You film on your phone, and you can install it to the home screen.

How it works

  1. Plant. Put mangrove seedlings in the ground.
  2. Film. Record the land, then record the planting in the app. The phone stores a GPS fix with the clips.
  3. Get verified. Verifiers in the Treegens DAO watch both videos and vote.
  4. Earn rewards. An approved planting can earn $TGN. The DAO sets the rate, and the rate can change. Filming a row does not by itself guarantee a reward.

Works offline in the field

The first sign-in on a phone needs a signal. After that, the phone can film with no connection. Each clip is saved on the device. Uploads wait in a queue and resume by themselves when you are back in signal. A clip that fails to send stays in the queue until it goes through.

Who verifies your trees

Independent verifiers watch the land video and the planting video, check the GPS and the filming time, and vote to approve or reject. Review usually takes a few days. Read how a planting is proved, and the filming steps, before you go out.
